So I want to start research and pricing out some R-comps. I want to start the season on my street tires, get back into the jist of things then switch to the R-Comps and see what I can do. Does anybody have any suggestions for manufacturer and size? Stock tire size on my 06 Civic Si is 215/45/17 on 17x7 wheels, obviously this would move me to a DSP as opposed to the STX I'm in now.

Thanks in advance for the help!

You can't go wrong with a set of Kumho V710s or Hoosiers, they just cost a bunch.  You could get some Nitto NT01s which are slightly cheaper and will last longer, but are likely not as sticky.  The Kumhos are supposedly designed for cars which can't get enough negative camber (like more than -2 degrees up front).  I run them.  I also have a set of NT01s for my "street" tires, I'll have to try running on them at some point to see how they compare.

The downside to the R-comps (besides price) is that there isn't any warning when they lose grip.  You could also consider an extreme performance street tire such as the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec or Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 (or is it the RE-11 now?).  Their performance is close to an R-comp, they are cheaper, last longer and you can drive on them to and from the events.

Yeah I considered getting some Star Specs before I got the tire I'm on now (Hankook Ventus V12 Evo)

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll probably end up with the Kumhos
