Hey everyone,

Just introducing myself, my name is Will and I'm interested in getting into autocrossing.  A friend of mine and I are thinking about going to the event at the end of the month.  Should we come to the membership meeting tonight?  We don't really know anything about autocross or have any racing experience, and we don't have a good car to start with (I have a really old junker accord that probably wouldn't hold up to any amount of racing, and my friend has a bmw 3 series that he doesn't want to race in) so we're probably interested in getting some direction in finding a solid/cheap/reliable car to autocross.

Hey Will.  You are welcome to come to the meeting tonight and socialize, but you don't need to.  There are typically 10-20 of us from the club that attend.  You should definitely come to the autocross and see what it is all about, even if you don't race.  People are very friendly and most are willing to give rides in their car.

What kind of car do you have?  I have raced a lot of odd cars in the past...Crown Victorias, a Saturn SL2, a $1,200 CRX.  If you are 25 or older you can always rent a car Smiley

Come out and join us and we will help you figure it out. You might be suprised by some of the vehicles you see autocrossing, your car might work just fine. Here are a few links from our <HOME><UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD FILES><PUBLIC DOUCUMENTS> section that will give you a good idea of what autocrossing is all about

Hope to see you there

John

If you are interested in cheap cars to autocross, you can't go wrong with a Miata or Honda.

This Miata seems like a good deal.
This MR2 would be good too, costs slightly more though.

Awesome, thanks for the tips everyone.  I probably won't be able to make it this weekend, but hopefully the next one.  I am actually planning on selling my accord crap-box and buying a 1994 miata w/ 145k miles for $2k this weekend.
