I really enjoy following this, but do keep in mind you are all fighting for second behind the Fiat.

No need to apologize. I hope the vette has a quick recovery.

Obviously!
5  Events / Autocross / George Bowland!!! on: April 10, 2013, 06:51:37 AM
Just checked the registration list for 4/14 and saw George Bowland is signed up to run with us in his BBR Special! This is by far the fastest car you will ever see at a VMSC event.

Someone please tell me this isn't a late April fools joke.

Glad you got it sorted out. 11-1 doesnt sound that bad but if you have anyway to put a little timing in it you could probably get to 13-1.
7  General / Open Forum / Re: Farmboy Fab: From Scrap to Racecar in 5 weekends, Lemons style! on: March 01, 2013, 12:33:26 PM
Throw the timing light on it and see what happens when you rev it. If you can put  marks at 20, 25, and 30 on the crank pulley.
8  General / Open Forum / Re: Farmboy Fab: From Scrap to Racecar in 5 weekends, Lemons style! on: March 01, 2013, 12:24:41 PM
ECU probably changes timing based on load and rpm.

Timing can have a big influence on AFR, have you checked to make sure you are getting the correct advance?

Same here with the 600, won't be able to commit until closer to the date.

I'm hoping to get the car where they are all Fiat courses, unless we go to the drag strip.

Scott,

The times shown as my dad's 6th and 7th runs were actually my first to 2 runs, we forgot to change the number on the car.

Sorry,
Bernard

Does your motor have hydraulic valve lifters? I know Chevy truck motors tap sometimes after first starting until the lifters get oil pressure.

I'll find out who we use at work and see if I can get some prices.

The event has been cancelled due to the bad weather. The good news, it's only 2 weeks until the April 10th event @ RIR.
22  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Dyno Day! on: February 26, 2011, 05:08:52 PM
David, thanks for shooting the video of the Fiat. We gained about 20hp in three runs and despite not making the final numbers we were looking for it was a really fun time. I highly recomend everyone to come out next year!

If anyone got the DRF files from your runs this download will read them...

1.7 without significant aero is highly suspect, especially if you're also showing erroneous times in other places.  Were you in a full-on drift?  Because that can cause strange readings on accelerometers.

I'd think if street cars are pulling 1.2-1.3G a formula ford with well setup shocks and brand new R25B Hoosiers should be capable of 1.7.

It is a good point about accelerometers giving false readings when a car is sliding or has a lot of body roll, but I was watching Dick run and I'd say the car was locked down with little to no sliding going on and zero body roll.

Ed, I'm glad you and Justin brought the carts down. They were a lot of fun to watch.

Anyway here's the best I could manage to do out there.

Racing tires should always be bagged when not in use, not just in the winter.
