476  Events / Other Events / Anyone want to go to the drag strip? on: June 10, 2009, 06:43:16 AM
I haven't drag raced in over 5 years, but I'm getting more and more curious about what my Civic will run in the 1/4 mile.  It looks like VMP has some kind of street night and test & tune every Friday.  Is anyone interested in going some time a few weeks from now?  Maybe June 26th?

Has anyone gone to one of these at VMP?  I looked for info on the test and tune on their website, but couldn't find any...how is it different than the street wars?

In reviewing the results to the registration sign ins, we seem to be missing times for #58 Gregory Summers (N-SM)  and for #97 Phil Moore (HSX)

Greg Summers is there, I didn't have him as a Novice though.  Phil Moore didn't run.  I have him recorded as working though, so he will get worker points.

btw, Roger Garrett is ASP, not SS

Cool, that moves him down below you in PAX, but keeps him ahead of Wagner.  I'll update the results after a couple of days to let any more corrections come in.

Results from the 05/31/2009 autocross are posted here on MyAutoEvents.  Post here or email me if you see any errors.

Thanks to everyone who came out, helped set up and helped tear down the course.  I look forward to seeing you all on June 21st at VMP.

Why must my driveway be so small?!?!
481  General / Classifieds / Re: Tow Vehicle... on: May 23, 2009, 04:40:12 AM
So tempting!  Do you know what gearing it has in the rear end?  Is the front end leaf or coil sprung?

I've been in there, but never at the same time as anyone else.

man i forgot about the street tire class!!  great course today.  justin you were killing it!!  k20 and hoosiers and maybe i'll have a chance!
Thanks, maybe if I keep turning the ignition key off with my knee in the middle of my runs like I did on the last run today...  Sad

I figured out that's why my car "stalled" while driving home and repeatedly banging my knee cap into the keyring.  Thankfully there's nothing wrong with the car.

Are there any rewards or trophies being sent out for winners for certain classes?

Novice class gets trophies, usually the first 2 places.  If you earned a trophy and have not collected it, you can ask for it at the next event.  Besides that, at the end of every year, we add up the members' points and the top 15-20 get some very nice trophies.

Results for the 05/10/2009 event are posted here on MyAutoEvents.  Thanks to Scott Hoffman and Catherine for OD'ing today.  Thanks to Jeff Chenery who helped set up the course on Saturday, but couldn't run Sunday.

I did not bother creating separate results for X-class since only 2 people ran it.  They are grouped together (along with Novice class) in the Detailed Results section at the end.  As a reminder, if you are running street tires and are not in an ST class, you can run X-class if you wish to see your results grouped with other people on street tires.

If you see any errors in the results please post them here or PM me and I will correct them.  See you on the 31st back at RIR!

I found out I could save files from Excel in HTML format, so I have uploaded the HTML results to MyAutoEvents.  It should act a lot more like the usual results.  You won't need to download anything.
489  General Category / Announcements / Re: results.... on: May 06, 2009, 04:20:18 AM
That's a good idea.  I change the result to an image file on MyAutoEvents which should make it easy to print.  Can someone volunteer to print a few copies?  My printer is out of toner.
490  Results / Autocross / Re: 04/26/2009 Results on: May 06, 2009, 04:15:47 AM
I changed the format of the file on MyAutoEvents to an image, so anyone should be able to open.  It will still prompt you to download it, but you shouldn't need Excel to read it.

Justin:  I was car 56 in ASTOCKX.  I believe the Dodge Charger is probably in FS.  The times are mine but some how the system let several people register with my permanent number.

Charlie

I've updated the results.  I think I found a couple of other car # errors.  Thanks to David and Chris taking pictures, I was abl to correct them.  Charlie - if you have the registration sheet, can you bring it to the Board meeting?  I will double check all the entries.

I have set the events up going forward to use unique numbers.

Tony and Cory - I corrected your classes in the results and re-posted them.
493  Results / Autocross / 04/26/2009 Results on: May 01, 2009, 02:01:08 PM
Results for last Sunday's race have been calculated.  I had to enter all the times and penalties by hand and I used the pictures to figure out who some car numbers belonged to, so please let me know if you notice anything wrong.

Results are uploaded here on MyAutoEvents.  I have also attached the full Excel file to this post.  There are different tabs for Raw, PAX and Full results.

Thanks to everyone who came out, hopefully I'll see you on May 10th!

edit: 05/06/2009, changed results format on MyAutoEvents from Excel to an HTML file

I'm hoping to get some time today after work, or tomorrow.

It does look like that, but if you look at the full-sized picture on Flikr, I think the inside half of the right front tire is still in contact with the ground.
496  Events / Autocross / Re: Results for 04/26/2009 autocross delayed on: April 28, 2009, 02:11:13 PM
Someone turned off the timing software, so there were a bunch of runs missing from the computer.  When it was turned back on, times were not correctly tied to car numbers.  Thankfully, we write all times and penalties on paper.  Having the times in the computer makes it super-quick to publish the results, but I'll be able to get them up after compiling all of the times that were recorded on paper.
497  Events / Autocross / Results for 04/26/2009 autocross delayed on: April 28, 2009, 09:53:24 AM
Due to the timing error in the 2nd heat, the posting of results for the 04/26 autocross will be delayed by a few days.  I am going back through the paper time sheets and manually entering every single time and penalty.  I hope to have them up by this weekend.  Thanks for bearing with us and sorry for the inconvenience.
498  Events / Autocross / Re: Am I going to look rediculous showing up in a stock 97 civic lx? on: April 23, 2009, 10:50:35 AM
On the school, don't sign up until you know you can make it.  I don't know what the Board would say, but it is likely that you would be taking a spot from someone who could come if you signed up and then dropped out.

For autocrosses, we generally don't give refunds, we give credits towards your next autocross.  It just keeps things cleaner.

Of course, if there are extenuating circumstances we will reconsider in either case.
499  Events / Autocross / Re: Am I going to look rediculous showing up in a stock 97 civic lx? on: April 23, 2009, 09:06:25 AM
Hi Mark,

Don't worry about your car, come out and have fun!  You would be amazed at the variety of cars that come out.  I personally have owned and autocrossed a couple of Ford Crown Victorias, a Saturn SL2 and a 1991 CRX that were all stock.  There are several people who come out with stock, or mostly stock Hondas, there is a VW Passat wagon that shows up every now and then and quite a few other stock cars.

It is actually much easier to learn to drive in a slow car since you have more time to react to things.  The automatic shouldn't hinder anything either, you will likely keep it in either 1st or 2nd gear the whole time.

BTW, I think your cold air intake puts you in the ST class.  My advice is to not pay much attention to what class you are in, it doesn't change the amount of fun you will have.

There is one spot open in our Novice school on Saturday, if you are interested.  If not, try and watch/ride with some experienced drivers on Sunday.  You can learn a lot from watching people who have been doing this for a while.

Hi Dana,

Thanks for the reminder.  I sent an email and posted up some minor details in the other post.  Plan on getting there between 7:30 and 8:30, lunch will not be provided by the club.  If I remember, I will bring some water with me, but it would be smart if you brought your own...in case I forget  Smiley
