Don't wait for me for dinner, I'll probably eat on the way down.

We've pulled Paul's 3 car trailer down Calvary Rd without issue.  I also think that way is shorter.

Well, my car is back running again after breaking an axle Friday.  Thankfully, an Advance Auto by my house had a set of RSX axles (only $125!) that I could use after swapping the inner CV joints.  Fingers crossed that nothing breaks this weekend, though I did buy a much much more expensive set of axles to bring along in case they do.

Still planning on getting down there ~6:30 on Thursday if I can get out of work at a reasonable time.  I'll look for you guys, though I may decide to sleep somewhere else if that light is too bright.  Good thing my hotel room has wheels!
4  Events / Other Events / Re: Drag Strip this Friday (05/10/2013)? on: May 10, 2013, 08:56:29 PM
Well, that was fun.  I ended up breaking my other axle on my first launch.  Must find some replacements quickly.
5  Events / Other Events / Drag Strip this Friday (05/10/2013)? on: May 09, 2013, 06:54:07 PM
So, Paul's car is running well enough as of last night and my Civic is back together (now with rear brakes, maybe!) so we figured it'd be good to get them down to the drag strip.  He can tune his before Sunday and I can make sure my car still runs and the brakes still work before next weekend.  Weather looks less than optimal (hot and humid with a slight chance of showers), but that just means no crowds.  Details here.

I'm going to try and get there by 6 when they start running.  Anybody else in?

I'm planning on getting there around 6:30 on Thursday.  Save me a spot if you can, one big enough for the wagon and trailer Smiley

Not sure about the list, but I think the answer to the question is "massive oversteer."
8  General / Open Forum / Re: Winter projects? on: April 29, 2013, 11:08:53 AM
Well, it's not really winter anymore, but I managed to clean out the garage after getting Gunny's car running.  Loaded the wagon with scrap metal and took it to the recycler.

Since Paul's car is in the garage, had to put the Civic outside.  The wagon is like a mother protecting her children.

Now I just need to get the Civic ready for the HPDE.  New fluids, make the rear brakes work, new inner wheel well shield to keep my tires from throwing road debris directly onto the air filter.  Maybe next weekend...

heres one of mine in the aerio. having fuel slosh issues with the much stickier toyos on the first dry race day. Any quick solutions to fix this? ran around half a tank of gas for this event.

My Civic will lose fuel mid-corner if < 1/2 tank.  I usually just run a full tank.

Spray paint?  Duct tape?  No need to overthink numbers on buckets.

Maybe that would be the evolution of the LeMons Miata if I didn't have so many other projects right now.

I think you got in because my Dad dropped out.  He pulled the heads off his motor and found a piece of a piston missing.  So...eight?  I didn't count.

My standard spares list is:

- front pads and rotors
- extra oil and filter, brake and trans fluid
- distilled water/antifreeze
- accessory belt

Plus lots of tools, jack, stands and boards to put under stands.

Could just add more negative camber.  If you don't already have a better than stock alignment, I'd go this route.

What kind of car?  I've rolled mine with a baseball bat and a 3lb sledge...as people have stated, just depends how you want it to look.

I have a question about how novice and street tire times are reported. In the sections Summary Results and Detailed Results why are their best times PAXed when other classes show raw times?

Street Tire and Novice are index classes.  That means all Novices are printed in the results together and all Street Tire folks (who are running in a class that allows r-comps) are shown together.  The only way to make that a comparable list is to do it based on PAX.  This doesn't affect points, essentially it just ensures the Novices or Street Tire folks are all printed in the same location.

we can swap your names in the results sheet where we track points, but may not regenerate the HTML files for this one change if you're okay using your imagination to make the updates in your mind Smiley

wow, that was a nice surprise.

Yeah, good job.  You sure you want to get the Merkur running?

There is no postponing, only cancelling is an option.  Historically, we've reserved that for weather events like hurricanes.  My suggestion - dress warm Smiley

Like!!   What goes on the upper shelf?

Thanks.  Danielle is putting her cutting boards on that shelf.  I wanted to try something different and didn't want to deal with trying to fit a board snugly around the 4 legs.  I also didn't have enough scrap flooring to make a full shelf.  I'm pleased with how it came out.
22  General / Open Forum / Re: Winter projects? on: March 23, 2013, 04:06:22 PM
Did this a few weekends ago.  Danielle heard some change rattling around in the console of the Porsche.  I pulled ~$12.50 out of it.

Not car-related, but managed to finish the kitchen island I was building today:

Street Tire class makes me happy Smiley  I might have a chance even though the Miata hasn't been set up at all.

FYI, I heard we've withdrawn from the show because there weren't enough workers.
25  General / Open Forum / Re: Farmboy Fab: From Scrap to Racecar in 5 weekends, Lemons style! on: March 19, 2013, 05:30:54 PM
Well, we had a good weekend.  All drivers are still alive and the car still runs.  We even managed no black flags and a 15th out of 84 finish!  Shutting our mouths during BS inspection and bribing the judge with some top shelf Gin resulted in a B-class with 3 penalty lap assessment.  Much improved from our A-class with 50 penalty laps we got at the end of last year.

There were some pretty awesome cars there, including a 4 door Geo Metro powered by a 3.0L V6 from a Ford Escape mounted in the rear.  When that motor blew up, they cannibalized the V6 out of one of a teammate's daily driver SVT Contour.  Also, possibly the greatest LeMons racer of all time, SpeedyCop's Spirit of LeMons 1956 Cessna mounted on a Toyota HiAce chassis.
