Well, I didn't do all that great but maybe with a few changes and some more seat time i can see if i can do a little better at the next event. Was definitely a blast though, thanks everyone. My short cut run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvWgisGcgycMy final +3 run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDe_f9vVtZ4If anyone wants to offer up any suggestions or pointers other then the obvious "Stay on Course" and "Don't Hit Cones" I'm open ears! lolThat evo looks like a monster! After looking at the video - I'd say go a bit wider on corners to maintain speed. There were a few points where you'd slow down a lot to make a corner - and of course what I have a problem with the most: slaloms! Be 'early' on the turn in - Ricardo tried to beat that through my head. My wife is much better at them than I am :-/. Looking ahead obviously is what everyone says - and it's true. It's easy to go off course if you're focused on just the 'next' cone. Also - that first slalom - it's easy to miss, but going in on the right side left you coming out on the left - which set you up better for the next gate (and subsequently the following gate that you kept missing). Good job keeping the speed up! What heat where you in? I ran 1 so we had a bit less water. I felt like the course was crazy slippery then - hate to imagine what it was like when it was wetter. VMP is kinda slippery in general (think it's the asphalt used). At least you have AWD to help with that ;-). I totally lost it on my 4th run - slid right past the first corner on the loop. I can attest to the AutoX school is HUGELY helpful. Do that if you get a chance. I took 2-3 seconds off my times assuming my competition in my class is running consistent.

Don't feel bad for not beating Cliff, he is fast. That is a fast "wabbit"! Anytime, you looked good in there, and I know some other Hyundai owner who is worried about the competition on the marque trophy.
Haha - yeah I think Mr. Corwin was a bit upset that I finally beat him :-) (although he did run faster on his 2nd run and was called off course be neither of us saw where). Many thanks to you! - as the last time William and I met - he was a good 2 seconds faster in his Genesis than I was in mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Paodp1NZb2E&feature=plcp - still need to work on my slaloms. I'm still closing in on Cliff!

I couldn't get my head into it - but I'm happy with my fastest: 70.285. Plus I had a stylish slide out on my 4th run. Someday I'll beat Cliff in his Mini!
Also - I noticed Justin Briggs on his first time out got 4th place PAX adjusted in his Rabbit - shaving 10 seconds off his last time ;-). I think that might be an error - he mentioned his fastest time was 76.101 not 67.101. I would like to say Justin wants to come back.
Thanks again for the tips Ricardo! Finally got my head in the game on my 3rd run!

The ROAM is interesting - since it's more waterproof and has a winder angel (if memory serves), but it doesn't have a replaceable battery. Also the Roam doesn't do 60FPS.
Hey, you're right! I hadn't noticed that before. The ContourHD has 60fps so I just assumed the new model would too. Good catch! The Roam does have a 170 degree lens though, the HD is just 135. The Roam is a mixed bag compared to the prior model. Found this http://contour.com/products/compare_cameras very helpful comparing the current models, but there's a reason they don't list the HD 1300 on there (other than it's been discontinued)

Yeah Newegg had the Contour HD for $120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830853001But it's out of stock now (earlier this week it was in stock - and it was out of stock before that - so who knows it might be back in stock soon). The main reason I liked the drift was: * Easy external mic (so less wind noise) * LCD to line up the shots * RF remote to turn it on remotely * quite a few mounting options The ROAM is interesting - since it's more waterproof and has a winder angel (if memory serves), but it doesn't have a replaceable battery. Also the Roam doesn't do 60FPS. The GoPro motorsports is a nice kit, but Hero vs Hero 2 there is no comparison. The problem of course is the motorsports kit for the hero 2 is $300. I got out w/ every accessory I wanted for around $220. I'd have still wanted the external LCD for the gopro and that would have set me back another $80 or so.

Thank you crutchfield for an amazing deal: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_788SHD170/Drift-Innovation-HD170-Stealth-Camera.html?search=drift+innovationRight now they have the camera + case + extended battery for $159 + free shipping (amazon has the same price without the extras). Also all the accessories are free shipping and 10% off. I got the suction cup mount to gear up for this next season. I did quite a bit of research between gopro, contour, and a few others I can't remember. The drift hd170 had good performance, 720p 60fps, 170 degree angle, LCD for lining up the shot, and very positive reviews. GoPro Hero 2 Motorsports would have been awesome - but it would have been quite a bit more if I wanted the LCD screen or that new wifi accessory. Just sharing the deal if anyone else is interested in a camera :-)

Yeah when looking at the price range I was looking at it was Mustang, Genesis Coupe or a used G37 (which was still more expensive). The Genesis offered everything I was looking for interior wise while providing RWD, 300HP, and an upscale feel. Add to the fact that between mustangs and G37's - the Genesis is not quite as common (for better or worse).
My old Tiburon treated me well, and I drove it for 5 1/2 years - and the details they got right with the car for day to day use kept me loving the car. Never had any drivetrain issues with it, although I've replaced a few door actuators and an e-brake cable. Other than that I've been impressed with Hyundai.

Hey! My wife and I just got a new car. 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Track M/T We still have the Mini Cooper S (traded my old Tiburon in). Will be driving the Mini at the next autocross, but maybe next years events in the spring I'll actually give her a go. Although I'll probably do better times in the Mini. I know William Corwin has a Blue Track A/T. Be interesting to compare times with him!
