General / Technical Help / Re: Any Richmond area recommendations on engine builders?

Most any reputable shop should be able to handle that. I deal with Lewis Robinson at "The Shop". He's located in Charles City off of Rt 5. I have also dealt with Tom Ballos in Richmond.
How were their labor rates at either shop? Anyone you prefer over the other? What do you have/plan to have that Duratec in?
Its going into my Focus. This is actually the original engine, since it was a rebuilt engine I broke... whoops.

General / Technical Help / Any Richmond area recommendations on engine builders?

Do you guys have any recommendations on engine builders? I have a short block (Ford Duratec I-4) that needs some work; just the basics: cleaning, 20 over on bore, honing, and bottom end assembly. I'm not sure where my last engine builder moved to, and they were more of a domestic V8 kind of shop, and very pricey.
Who do you recommend?

General / Classifieds / Looking for: Set of 4x114.3 14x7\" Toyota Celica/Supra/AE86 Corolla wheels
|
on: June 07, 2007, 10:00:27 AM
|
I have some friends that are looking for some wheels for the 24 Hours of LeMons car. Folks, we need a set of four 4x114.3 14x7" Toyota Celica/Supra/AE86 Corolla wheels.
They're fairly common... They came on the Celica GTS, and top end Supra, but are popular upgrades for the Corollas and other cars of the time.
70's and 80's Datsuns/Nissans as well as pretty much all RWD Toyotas run this pattern. Excellent suggestion. The wheels shipped on the 1982-1985 Toyota Celica and Toyota Supra. They were delivered only on the high-end models which can be spotted by the shape of the wheel as well as the fender flares. Here is an example of the wheel: This exact wheel is preferred, but any aftermarket design of identical dimensions may very well be suitable. I'm not too familiar with these, but if anyone has any they are looking to sell, let me know. Thanks! [Edited on 6-7-2007 by Egz] [Edited on 6-7-2007 by Egz]

Can someone give me a quick rundown on everything that changed since I was last out there? This looks like a new venue. Has the registration system of Pasha's changed much? It looks like we both may be able to make it to one of these finally. :omg:

Steph's hooked. Luckily she got that day off, so we'll be there. We signed up a couple of days ago. I hope we didn't miss any emails with the GIs. Thanks [Edited on 11-13-2006 by Egz]

General / Technical Help / Anyone have an engine hoist I can borrow?
|
on: June 01, 2006, 09:13:29 AM
|
|
I just finished moving to my new house, and now that I have a garage, doing the engine swap myself is an option. The only problem is I don't have an engine hoist. I was wondering if anyone had a hoist I could borrow for 1-2 months.
Thanks!

General / Technical Help / Best way to get my busted car to WV?
|
on: April 06, 2006, 06:09:22 PM
|

I have some friends that run a nice operation out in WV that can help me with my engine swap. However, thats about 3 hours away. If all goes well, I should have everything by the end of this month to get it running again. But I'm still not sure how to get it there.
My Buick only has a class 1 tow hitch, so that right out. Can I rent an explorer and a tow dolly any where? Do anyone have something they can lend me?
Thanks

We had fun at yesterdays autox. I hope the fourth heat got all their runs so we can keep our fouth run times. However, I had to reassure Stephanie (who just moved from CA) that not all autox's out here are this cold.

I wish I had the time and the money for her "Taxi" ride when I was there a couple months ago.
