Who are the instructors?
I expect Audie will be on the phone soon looking for volunteers. Stay tuned! Just to clarify, the school is just on Saturday. Sunday will be a regular autocross event. (There is a practice day scheduled for August.) Also, if you're a club member and interested in picking up non-competition points, consider helping out at the school even if you don't take it. Ditto for the practice in August.

We are having a practice next month a two day event. Get as many people to ride along and drive your car as you can because feedback is always relative to what "works" for the drivers style.
Ditto!! Except that next month isn't a practice (where everybody simply drives the course as many times as they can during the day) but a school: limited number of signups, and each student gets an assigned instructor for the day. So it's more expensive than a practice, and more valuable since you get a lot more input. Registration isn't open yet, but when it is you should jump on it before it fills up.

i suppose so. i thought all calsses were paxed, but i guess they get specially paxed
Every class has a pax multiplier. But both the raw times and pax times can be useful, it depends on what you are comparing. So the results contain both, in separate tables. Generating the results is a bit of work, so I would hesitate to suggest making it any more complex. But sometimes I think it would be nice if pax times were (say) a different color from the raw times. Maybe someday we'll have a member with web scripting skills, who will generously volunteer to set up something that displays the results in a more visually clear style... without adding any effort to the job of uploading the data.

Mfr's recommended pressures (for daily driving) are 44 rear / 37 front. After run 3 I think that's about where they were, front was maybe a bit lower. I let out a couple of pounds at both ends for run 4, and I could feel it was a little better. I was planning to let out some more for my next run - but there wasn't one. Oh well!
I don't know how much an M3 weighs, but my early-model 997 is about 3100lbs.
I have a non-contact temp gauge in my track box, I'll make sure I get that out next time. It would be interesting to track temps, pressures, and traction. (Is there an app for that? lol)

I'm missing my big blue intercomp gauge with a glow in the dark face...
Are not!!! That's mine. You don't need the large print edition. Yet. I knew as soon as I put it down in grid I would forget it.

Wow, I think this little novice is starting to grow up! For the first time I actually noticed the effect of rising temps on my grip. First run I had traction, but I wasn't pushing hard. Next couple of runs the tires got unexpectedly greasy and started letting go without their usual noisy warning. I finally got a clue and lowered my pressures a little, which helped a bit but with only 4 runs I didn't have time to experiment any further. I love my RE11s and have been singing their praises since I bought them last November. So what gives? Just the fact this is the first time I've run them on a really hot day! They are still awesome in warm, cool, cold, and even wet, without any babysitting. But in heat it looks like I'm going to have to pay more attention to those pressures. Either that or get a third set of tires for mid-summer events.... lol

Not until I have some idea how it will behave for regular customers.
I ordered a couple of test products, that's what was on the table at the event today. (Actually three of them were from cafepress, which I found I didn't like as much.) They came out nice enough, but weren't quite what I expected. Still figuring this thing out.

General / Technical Help / Need Zazzle help

Does anyone have experience selling on Zazzle? I've created a Zazzle.com store for VMSC, basically just putting our logo on stuff. (The store isn't open yet, all the products are visible to me only for now.) I designed a few products, but there seems to more to the site than I understand. There are so many options and features, it's hard to figure out the best way to use it. For example, I'm not sure whether it's better to design specific products, or just put the logo on there and let buyers decide for themselves what to do with it. (Um, we might want to make a few restrictions on that. ) PM me if you'd like to help. Thanks, Beth

Love the idea, but... inside the garage? Who has enough room in their garage for people to watch a movie? Well Engelbert maybe. (You do but that's because you just moved in.) That said, you can definitely add my garage to the list. I'll just need a little help figuring out the logistics. So who has a projector to offer?

General / Open Forum / RRS 2012 Spring Concert
|
on: April 30, 2012, 08:39:52 PM

If you're looking for something a little different this weekend, check out the Richmond Renaissance Singers Spring concert on Saturday the 5th at 8pm. The program contains both older music (Monteverdi, Morley, Palestrina) and some modern pieces (Lauridsen, Messiaen, Stanford). Admission is free. It's a short program - we try to keep it to about an hour including a brief intermission - so it fits neatly between dinner and the Cinco de Mayo celebration you might be heading to later. And plenty of time to get to bed early, to be ready for autocrossing in the morning! If you've been to RIR you can find the venue: Christ Ascension Episcopal Church, 1704 Laburnum right at Hermitage - just a few blocks east of the 95/64 interchange. (In fact for the past few weeks there's been a pretty green C4 for sale, parked right in front of the place. ) b.

Well we could make you one I suppose.... but then everyone would want one. Perhaps they would settle for a brief statement on club letterhead?
