Hey folks, Unloading some stuff. Kosei K1's in new condition. 15x7, 4x100, 38mm, and as a special added feature, these are shod with Hoosier A3's (225/45). OK, so the Hoosiers are a bit hard, but they are still better than street tires! As a set only, $360. Tire trailer with tool box, in excellent condition. $250. Miata (NA) da'lan trailer hitch. I'm sure you'll need mounting bolts. $75 Willams (sp?) 2 inch cam harness. $50. Hey, what I can I say...daughter is getting married...so daddy has to raise some serious jingle This all may pay for one flower arrangment! Everything is in Fredericksburg. Dave K. 540-295-9277

As the link I posted indicated, this is a revenue generator and the lawmakers fully admit that. Of course, there is a simple answer to all this...behave! :p

General / Open Forum / Got an aftermarket steering wheel? Look out!

Yep, Adrian, I found all of those references and discussed them at length with the Sgt. According to him, the Capt has the authority via the General Assembly to make changes to the state inspection rules without first getting specific approval from the GA. To that end, what you have seen on the State Police web site is code, as offically issued on July 1, 2006 in Inspection Bulletin #323. Key word...ANY PART of the system As to the '91. It's marked on the VIN tag. You would have to deface the VIN tag to remove the "Air Bag" marking. I beleive that modifying the VIN tag is a major no-no. And there is no start date. If I had replaced the wheel in '92, I'd have to get a air bag back in there to pass inspection. Read a case of a guy just moved here from FL. He had removed the entire system while in FL. Could not get VA inspection...ouch! The Sgt. seemed like a very reasonable man. I have little reason to believe that he was trying to "snow" me. This is truly a P.I.T.A. Especially, if you have already made those changes.

I have done my research. I actually got a phone call from Sgt Evans of the VA State Police, Safety Division. As of July 1, 2006 all cars so equipped from the factory were to be inspected and rejected if ANY component of the air bag system was removed. Here's the fun part. This goes backwards too. Had I modified my '91 Miata in May of 2006, I would still be required by VA code to return the air bag system to its orginal condition. Crud!

General / Classifieds / NA Miata Roll Bar -- $275

Scott, Isn't the E30 spec fairly new? I think any established spec can end up costing a lot to run up front. One of the really appelaing features of Spec Miata is the number of entrants in a race. MARRS gets near 40 cars every race. So no matter where in the pack you are, there is likely to be a handful of folks ro race with. That's what appealed to me; I wouldn't have to win to have a blast.
One other thing I noticed about Spec Miata after playing pitcrew for a few races...it's brutal! Anybody that gets in to it better be ready for a bunch of dents, torn off bumper covers, and the like! Wild!
Here's wishing Adrian good luck with the build, and eventual track racing!

Events / Autocross / Fun and Games with Registration and Permanent #'s

I'm so confused....:ouch: As late as last Thursday morning, I checked the entry list and I was not on the list. I do have a paid up permanent number. Just for grins, I though I check this morning (Monday) and... say waaa :omg:... I'm on the list for yesterday's event. I knew well in advance I would not be attending. That is why I kept checking last week. I certainly would have removed myself from the list in plenty of time. So, is this just another "teething problem" or is there something we need to know about cancelling out if we have permanent numbers. Please this is not a "whine" Just trying to learn how to "work-with-the-system" Dave K #23

Joel, Sorry I wasn't implying that my 04 should be in ST2. ST2 STRICTLY forbids pushing extra air into the intake (a.k.a. turbo). I was just curious if you were running in ST2, cuz according to SCCA that's only for 90-97 Miata's. I tried ST2 for a while when I had an 01 on 15's. The club had slightly modified the SCCA interpretation of ST2 a few years back. I thought we had reverted to strict SCCA classes (strict classing? waz-zat :ouch: ....just teasing gang!) Dave K
